denmark
So we were originally going to skip past Denmark when we were first drafting up our lap plans. We are super grateful to our mates who highly recommended visiting here as it has been rated in our top five places to have visited!
We left Bremer Bay and stopped in at Albany to stock up on groceries and fuel. Albany was huge and had all of the major retail stores, but we wanted a less expensive stay so spent a relaxing few nights at Rockcliffe Winery. Although we aren’t wine drinkers, we were hooked with their pizza and gelato (perfect after-schoolwork treat), and the quietness! It also felt like home with the winery being close to the ocean, and the sound of magpies carolling and cows mooing in the morning. We booked through Hipcamp and paid $30 a night! There are only five bays that are staggered down the hillside which keeps it quite intimate. All sites look out towards the working vineyard.
The township of Denmark is dainty and only a 10min drive from the winery! From award winning sausage rolls at the bakery, to delicate chocolate shops and a tea house, we enjoyed wandering through the streets and perusing the shops. We also visited The Dam after the ginger beer also came highly recommended! It was an honest ginger beer, not too sweet and with the perfect ginger zing for an afternoon bevvie.
william bay national park
During our stay in Denmark, we ventured out to William Bay National Park to visit the famous beaches and rock formations. Elephant Rocks was pretty spectacular! It oozed Koh Samui vibes for us, with the huge granite boulders contrasting with the many shades of turquoise green water. There was rock-jumping, crevice-climbing and current-riding that kept us entertained. These currents can be strong so keep that in mind, also watch the tides as you need to walk through a crevice with ankle to knee deep water to reach the beach.
We stopped for a seaside lunch of bacon and egg rolls at Waterfall Beach before finishing the afternoon at Greens Pool! Stun-ning! A fantastic spot for swimming, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach. It is a calm place for little kidlets too! These places are super popular which means the car parks are busy but there are plenty, you might just need to walk a little further. You don’t require a national parks pass to visit

Beyond stoked to have stayed in Denmark, the lands of the Noongar people. We are going to pass it forward and say you must, you must visit! We stayed three nights but could have stayed a little more. It was bittersweet but when you were heading to Busselton, it was a little softener to leave.
