soul wood

soul wood tiny home

I spontaneously packed up my warriors and swapped our Jayco Flamingo for a night in a tiny home on the South Coast of New South Wales. It turned out to be the best decision, as later that evening, while we were completely off-grid, our state was put into lockdown.
You can find Soul Wood on a private property in Termeil. As I’ve said before, it’s totally off-grid. No phone reception or WIFI. The tiny home is completely powered by solar and gas. The water is provided from the on-site water tank. The toilet is compostable so rather than flushing, you pour in a scoop of sawdust.

There is plenty of heating if you’re planning on staying in the cooler months. The tiny home has a gas heater system, wooly blankets and a cosy outdoor fire pit. You can either cook on the fire (if you bring your own equipment) or bbq, otherwise there is a gas stovetop and oven inside. Firewood is provided and there is a trolley for you to conveniently use to collect sticks or twigs from the property. There is also plenty of lighting and a decent sized bar fridge.

BYO food and drinks if you fancy not leaving the tiny home, otherwise there is a supermarket, butcher and bakery located at Bawley Point. You can head over there for a dip at the beach too. Fancy an in-house pamper sesh? That is covered too! Have a read through the day spa menu and ring up and book.

Everything oozes slowness at Soul Wood. From playing records using their bluetooth record player, boiling up a herbal tea on the stove, snuggling up to read a book, melting marshmallows on the fire and even soaking under the stars in the outdoor bathtub! It really is the perfect place to escape from all the craziness and yuckies of the world once lockdown is over, and create your own little bubble of calm. Highly recommended!
Peace + love,

wandering wildfolk
